Why Mankar ULV/CDA sprayers are more accurate and versatile than other weed sprayers

So, why are Mankar sprayers a cut above other weed sprayers?

MANKAR® spraying systems are professional systems for effective, environmentally responsible and yet economical weed control with herbicides or herbicide mixtures without water.

They are based on ULV (ultra low volume) technology for optimum distribution of an extremely small amount of active product with an even droplet size which allows for what is often known as controlled droplet application (CDA).

The Mankar sprayers are unique in that they are both ULV and CDA sprayers at the same time. This means that you can spray neat chemicals like glyphosate without diluting it at all. The ULV nature of the Mankar will allow this to be sprayed in the very low volumes required and the CDA features will improve absorption rates so that less chemical needs to be applied.

Mankar sprayers are designed for precision spraying. The spray hood can be adjusted so the orientation of the spray can be changed by 90 degrees. This means the width of the spray can be adjusted to be between 15cm and 50cm. This is perfect for precisely spraying only the areas that need spraying.

They can also can also be used for spot spraying, meaning you only need to target the actual weeds in, for example, the cracks in a large paved area where weeds are coming through.

Another benefit is that, as overall glyphosate use will also be reduced due to more efficient absorption of the optimised spray, this means operators can meet the 2012 directives to minimise the usage of glyphosate on hard surface areas.

In fact, one interpretation of the wording of the 2012 directive could be that CDA/ULV sprayers are be the ONLY acceptable sprayers in such situations as the directive mandates all reasonable measures must be taken to minimise the use of glyphosate on hard surfaces where run off is a risk!

Whilst this is not generally how the directive is interpreted in the UK, similar directives in the EU used to be interpreted in that way. For a number of years, glyphosate could only be applied in amenity/hard surface settings with CDA/ULV sprayers. Conventional applications were effectively banned because they didn’t meet the criteria of minimising contamination risk. The EU has since issued directives that effectively ban glyphosate use in amenity settings full stop but the UK is yet to do so. However, best practice to meet the 2012 UK directives is still, in our opinion, to adopt CDA/ULV spraying.
